We commemorate World Refugee Day in the midst of a global pandemic. We acknowledge that Refugee communities have been amongst the hardest-hit by the COVID-19 health crisis.

In many refugee camps, spaces for 1,000 people are now bursting with more that 6,000. Food shortages have led to an epidemic of malnutrition. There is a lack of basic sanitation and no medical supplies. They have the equivalent of just 1.4 doctors per 10,000 people.

Refugees constantly contribute to the worlds of media, peace, and technology. Their expertise as medical professionals, and policy experts has been instrumental to combatting COVID-19. Refugees have also been instrumental in keeping communities informed about COVID-19 guidelines, supporting neighbors, and addressing misinformation.
