Specialist, PeaceTech Exchange
PeaceTech Lab works to reduce violent conflict using technology, media and data to accelerate and scale peacebuilding efforts. An independent nonprofit, the Lab brings together engineers and activists, MBAs and conflict experts, social scientists, data scientists and other innovators to put the right tools in the right hands to prevent violent conflict and build peace.
We’re seeking a full-time talented technologist and program coordinator to support PeaceTech Exchange (PTX), a global program addressing an array of peacebuilding and conflict issues from transparency and accountability and media literacy to countering violent extremism and gender-based violence. Working under the supervision of the Director of PeaceTech Exchange, the Specialist will administer a global workshop and grants initiative to support peacebuilders to discover and use technology to accomplish their mission objectives. This position is located at our headquarters in Washington, D.C. and start date is immediate. Compensation is commensurate with education and experience.
What We’re Looking For:
Recruits local and international technologists to support civil society organizations at PTX workshop locations
In conjunction with on-the-ground partners, plans and executes PeaceTech Exchange workshops which includes arranging logistical details like travel, accommodation, catering, venue(s) and local transportation and drafting agendas and inviting participants
Conducts and supports research in support of the PeaceTech Exchange team
Maintains regular contact with PTX participants before, during and after the workshop to build relationships and supervise the progress of funded projects stemming from the PTX
Manages logistics and communication for the follow-on funding proposal process
Supports the director in representing and pitching PTX for potential funding partners
Provides budget support and prepares regular financial reports for reporting to the broader organization
Performs other duties in support of the PTX mission
What You Bring to the Table:
Bachelor's degree required
2 - 3 years of program management or event planning experience
Background in conflict studies, international affairs, computer science or data science strongly preferred
Familiarity with a broad range of technology platforms including social media, data visualization platforms like Tableau and programming languages like Python
Ability to work across teams with a collaborative approach
Strong organizational and writing skills
Fluency in French, Spanish or Arabic is a big plus
