Peace is real. But it’s not up to politicians, diplomats, activists and experts to make it happen. It’s up to us!
PeaceTech Lab joins forces with legendary Venezuelan singer-songwriter Ricardo Montaner to counter digital violence and build peaceful and prosperous communities in Latin America.
According to the World Economic Forum (WEF), approximately 2 billion people, close to a third of the world’s population, live in countries affected by conflict. Conflict costs about $14 trillion every year, which is why taking action to identify and prevent drivers of conflict is of utmost importance. These drivers are often linked to traditional global challenges from political unrest and mass migration to lack of employment and public health crises.
Today’s conflicts are no longer defined by borders. In this technological era, digital violence has taken center stage as one of the major instigators of alarming global events, led by the spread of hate speech (racial, migrants, religious), online disinformation (fake news) and other types of incitement on web and social media platforms.
